The swap :		L´échange :		Der Tausch:
This swap was organized 98 from Quiltcréations. Cécile tried to get a lot of ladies from different countries to participate to this swap. Most of the ladies are from the USA, we had 2 in Europe (Dominique who is still a friend today, in the South of France then I) and a lady in Australia.		Cet échange fut organisé en 1998 par Cécile de Quiltcréations. Elle essaya d´avoir des pariticipantes de plusieurs endroits du globe. Nous étions deux en Europe (Dominique qui est restée une amie depuis, et moi), une dame en Australie, les autres sont toutes aux USA.		Dieser Block-Tausch wurde 1998 von Cécile in Quiltcréations organisiert. Sie versuchte Teilnehmerinen aus der ganzen Welt zu bekommen. Wir waren 2 in Europa (Dominique, die immer nocht eine Freundin ist!, und meine Wenigkeit), und eine Dame in Australien. Die anderen waren alle aus den USA.

We started in August ´98 and we sent a block every 6 week. That was good so we had enough time to do a good job, and to know each other. We ended in Sommer ´99.		L´échange démarra en aôut 98 et toutes les 6 semaines nous avons envoyé un blok. Cela nous laissait suffisamment de temps pour travailler correctement et aussi pour faire connaissance. En été ´99 ce fut fini.		Der Tausch startete in August ´98 und jede 6. Woche schickten wir ein Block. So hatten genügend Zeit eine gute Arbeit zu leisten und auch uns kennenzulernen. In Sommer ´99 wurde der Tausch abgeschlossen.

I decided in Fall ´98 to make a bigger quilt than 3x3 blocks and measured the wall and knew: well I need 15 blocks of that size. So I completed the swap with 6 own blocks. The ladies of the swap all got a double of my blocks, out of one of the flowers that I sent 3 times all the rest of the ladies got a different flower from me. I developped my own designs from different ideas and used the fabrics I hand-dyed.		En automne ´98 je décidais de faire avec ces blocks un quilt plus grand que 3x3, je mesurais mon mur et il me fallait 15 blocs. J´ai donc complété l´échange avec 6 blocs de mon propre atelier. Toutes les dames de l´échange ont reçu un "jumeau" de l´un de mes propres blocks, mis à part une fleur que j´envoyais 3 fois mais avec des tissus différents. J´ai développé mes propres dessins et utilisés des tissus que j´avais teint à la main.		In Herbst ´98 entschied ich eine größere Decke als 3x3 Blocks zu machen, die Wand wurde gemessen, und ich brauchte insgesamt 15 Blocks. Ich vollständige den Tausch mit 6 Blocks aus meinem eigenen Nähzimmer. Alle Damen erhielten einen Zwilling-Block von meinen, eine Blume versand ich jedoch in 3 verschiedenen Variationen. Ich entwickelte meine eigene Designs und benutzte Stoffen, die ich hand-gefärbt hatte.

THE QUILT : "FLORALTIES" !

A block is missing, but the swap is closed ! Sommer ´99 I was in the USA and bought there the bali-fabric for the sashing. Dominique Renou made a second block especially for me, I got it in the last week of April 00. During the week-end, I sewed and finished the top. Another friend surprised me with a block that I unfortunately could not use for this quilt.	Il me manque un block, mais l´échange est clos ! En été ´99 j´achetais aux USA un tissu en batik pour les bandes. Dominique Renou me fis avec gentillesse un bloc supplémentaire, une autre amie me fit la surprise d´un bloc que je ne pouvais malheureusement pas placé dans ce quilt. Le bloc de Dominique arriva fin Avril et pendant un week-end je cousu le top.	Ein Block fehlte, aber der Tausch war abegeschlossen. In Sommer ´99 kaufte ich einen Bali-Druck in den USA für die Verbindungsbändern. Dominique Renou nähte mich mit ihrer Freundlichkeit ein zusätzliches Block, und Ende April in einem Wochende konnte ich die Vorderseite fertig nähen. Eine andere Freundin überraschte mich mit einem Block, das ich leider nicht für dieses Quilt benutzen konnte.

A FINISHED QUILT !
At the end of june ´00 I got a new Pfaff sewing-machine, a tiptronic 2030 and startet to stipple that quilt. I had already hand-quiltet the straight lines and around the flowers. The shop where I bought the machine has an incredible choice of threads and I tried a wonderful viscose MADEIRA stick-thread. It gives a beautiful resultat, because it is very soft and do not stiff at all the quilt as a polyester or cotton/polyester thread could do it.	Fin juin ´00 j obtins ma nouvelle machine Pfaff, une tiptronic 2030 et je me lançais dans un stippling sur tout ce quilt. J´avais fait les lignes droites et le contour des fleurs à la main. Le magasin dans lequel j´ai acheté ma machine a un choix énorme de fils, et entre autre j´essayais un fil à broder de MADEIRA en viscose, qui donne de fabuleux résultat car ce fil souple raidit moins le quilt qu´un fil polyester ou polyester/coton.	Ende Juni ´00 erhielt ich meine neue Nähmaschine eine Pfaff tiptronic 2030, und fing an den Quilt zu stippeln. Alle gerade Linien, und der Kontour der Blumen wurde per Hand vorab gequiltet. In dem Geschäft, wo ich die Maschine erhielt, ist eine riesige Auswahl an Garn. Und ich versuchte einen Stickgarn von MADEIRA in Viscose. Der Garn gab wunderschöne Ergebnissen, da es glänzt und durch seine Weichheit, das Quilt nicht so sehr versteift, wie ein Polyester oder Polyester/BW Garn es tut.

THE SLEEVE ON THE BACK !
I wanted to use the signatures, but not on the quilt itself, so I put them on the sleeve, sure you can see them very well !	Je ne voulais pas utiliser les étiquettes sur le dessus du quilt, et décidais de les poser sur la manche en haut du dos.	Ich wollte nicht die Signatur-Blocks auf der Vorderseite benutzen sondern entschied mich für eine Platzierung auf der Schlaufe der Rückseite.



BRODERY ALL AROUND !
The final thing is this little brodery on the outside xx ... hourrah for the tiptronic !	La touche finale c´est l´idée qui me vint de mettre une petite broderie sur la bande de finition ... vive la tiptronic !	Das Tüpfelchen ist die Stickerei auf der Abschlusskante .. es lebe die tiptronic!

THE JURY CAME AND EXPERTIED THE QUILT !

My favourite Jury came, and expertised this quilt. Mon Jury préféré vint expertiser le quilt. Das Jury kam und fachprüfte die Decke.

The Jury said : This is a quilt made for me. Le Jury dit : Ce quilt a été fait pour moi. Das Jury sagte: Diese Decke wurde für mich gemacht!
